Reach Up

We all go through trials. And when we do, where to we tend to look for comfort or help? Some of look to things of the world. Drugs, material things, sin etc. In Matthew 14:22-33 the disciples were in a bad situation out in rough waters while in a small boat. But Jesus came to them walking on water so that they would learn a valuable lesson. That passage tells us to look to Jesus. The bible says in verse 27 “But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”. Jesus was letting the disciples know that it was Him. Meaning, to look at Jesus and do not be afraid. That He was the source of their strength, comfort and their peace. Then in verse 28, Peter says “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” And Jesus says “Come”. Jesus didn’t care that the waves were crashing everywhere and that the water was deep and rough. Jesus was in control of all of it. All He wanted Peter to do was keep his eyes on Him. And when He did, everything would be ok. So in times of trouble, look to Jesus to be your peace, comfort and strength.
