No longer slaves

In Romans 6:15-23, Paul talks about how we are no longer slaves to sin. Isn’t it interesting how in the Old Testament, the Israelites were finally delivered out of bondage by God? And when they were finally clear from the Egyptians, they were protected by God and guided by Him and yet they continued to want to go back to slavery? Why would someone want to go back to slavery once they are set free? That is because our hearts are wicked and sinful by nature. But Romans 6 reminds us that we are no longer slaves to sin. We were bought at a price by our Savior. He paid the ransom for us. So what now? We lean on Him and live our lives in gratitude for being delivered from OUR former master, sin. Because Jesus paid the price for our freedom, He is now our Master and we should live our lives as slaves to righteousness. Sure we get tempted to go back to our old ways and return to our former master. That is our sinful nature. But as we mature in the faith, we become more and more like Jesus and live in Freedom from the bondage of sin. Turn to Jesus today and trust in Him for your salvation and repent. Turn away from Sin and look to the Savior where there is true freedom.
