Life throws a lot of curve balls at us. But it also throws a lot of, well, presents. A lot of people say that they will follow God even through bad times. But what about the good times? Or even the great times? Remember what happened to the rich young ruler in Matthew 19 and Mark 10? He told Jesus that he had followed all the commandments since his youth. But Jesus caught him off guard by asking him to give away all that he owned and follow Him. The young ruler declined Jesus’ offer and walked away sad. Jesus also said “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” -Matthew 19:21-24 It’s hard for people to need anything when they have everything. The treasures of this world distract us from what is important. It is important to follow God and His ways no matter the circumstances. Would you be willing to give it all up and follow Christ?
