What does the bible say about friends? God loves His children enjoying each other’s company!
David and Jonathan’s relationship was a amazing example of friendship and loyalty in the Bible. Check their story out in the book of 1 Samual!
Jonathan, the son of King Saul, formed a close relationship with David after David defeated Goliath. The Bible describes their friendship with deep affection and loyalty. In 1 Samuel 18:3, it says, “And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.”
So, even though the tension and conflict that came up when Saul’s jealousy of David led to many attempts on David’s life, Jonathan protected and supported David. In 1 Samuel 20:42, Jonathan says to David, “Go in peace, for we have sworn friendship with each other in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord is witness between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever.'”
Their friendship is celebrated as one that has mutual respect, faithfulness, and protection. It is any amazing example of selfless love and unwavering support amid challenging circumstances. Who is the David or Jonathan in your life? I love my brothers and sisters in Christ and the time we spend together in fellowship and learning God’s word AND the way we walk in Christ together is a true blessing. God loves to see His children obeying Him in how we live our lives together.
